Life Unfiltered

An Honest Look At Life And Business

What We Love Wednesdays

Today we’re launching a new blog series: What We Love Wednesday! Lately, we’ve been devoting a lot of time around The Hatchery to goal setting, self-care, and personal development and we decided we wanted to share some of the things that help us with these objectives with you all. As working moms, it can be so easy to let ourselves take the back burner, so we hope some items on this list may help you relax, recharge, and refuel throughout your week.

Profresh Podcast: one of my favorite ways to transition from boss mode to mom mode is to listen to a podcast on the way to preschool pickup. Lately, I’ve been obsessed with the Profresh Podcast hosted by our dear friend (and mentor, marketing genius, overall girl crush, etc.) Kristen Brown. Each week a new female entrepreneur is featured and I’ve been loving the brilliant pieces of advice and realness this podcast offers in just 30-45 minutes! You can download Profresh here.

Capsule Wardrobes: I have to make about 5.5 million decisions on any given day and making decisions about what to wear on my body just so happens to be one of the most annoying. To avoid decision fatigue (this is a real thing, you guys!) I recently started building a capsule wardrobe! The general idea is to pare down your closet to only essentials and learn how to make countless outfits with what’s left. Truly life changing! You can even download a free ebook on the topic here!

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor: One of my favorite little pick-me-ups has to be makeup and these lip colors did not disappoint! They’re matte but somehow they’re also ridiculously hydrating. Did I mention one application of this lasted me through my entire chicken biscuit breakfast, two cups of coffee, and plenty of chatting? They’re hydrating, they’re long-lasting, and currently, they’re only $5.99 at both Ulta and Target. Seriously - go buy some now.

Macklemore Feat Skylar Grey - Glorious: Looking to replace Elsa's smash hit Let It Go for your morning toddler dance parties? Ellie and I recommend this jam! I hope I get to celebrate my 90th birthday with this much laughter and love #grandmagoals.  Plus, talk about some amazing lines. Some of my favorites include:

"So when I leave here on this earth, did I take more than I gave" and "Things are just things they don't make you who you are Can't pack up a U-Haul and take it with you when you're gone"

Profresh Podcasts: I’m living through a lot of these stories right now and it’s often a sigh of relief. I don’t feel as crazy or intimidated because I know others have been in my shoes and made it. Kristen has done a fantastic job finding badass women that are making things happen. We need more transparency in this filtered life and this is making that happen. Download ProFresh or nominate your favorite lady boss here!

Morning Routine - Me time: I used to think it was selfish and didn’t make it happen. I read Miracle Morning about 2 years ago and followed it for about a month….it was AMAZING...and then I had Ellie. Being the personal development junkie that I am, I have read over and over how having a morning routine is the thing to do. I’ve started doing a 5-10 minute meditation, 1-5 minute workout (pushups, situps, handstand push ups, pistols, KB swings), and reading 10 pages of a good book. It has been such a huge benefit. I have had to wake up earlier which is hard, but I’m not as flustered and it’s something productive that is conquered for the day.
